First Things First

Before you continue, stop at the Poke Mart and buy yourself plenty of potions and revives to survive a group of powerful opponents, ranging from level 51 to as high as 57.

In this last area before the Elite Four, you’ll also find a Super Nerd to the left of the Poké Mart looking to trade an Alolan Exeggcutor for a Kantonian Exeggcutor so go ahead and do that if you wish.

Also, to the right of the healing station, you’ll find a Move Tutor who will teach any of your Pokémon moves they previously acquired in exchange for Heart Scales.

Walkthrough

Your team should consist of Electric, Psychic, Ice and Water types . Zapdos and Articuno are obviously great choices, but don't forget about the likes of Alakazam, Jolteon, Blastoise, Cloyster and Gyarados. Or alternatively, you can use the Kanto starter evolutions along with your partner Pokemon for a well balanced team as long as you teach an electric move to Eevee, and an Ice type move to Blastoise.

Elite Four Lorelei

Your first opponent of the Elite Four will be the woman who saved you all the way back on Route 9 earlier in the game, Lorelei. She focuses on Ice based Pokémon that will send Flying, Ground, Grass, and Dragon Pokémon running for the hills.

Luckily, most of her Ice Pokémon are also duel type Water, so as long as you use Electric hits by your Pikachu or Eevee (if you’ve taught it Buzzy Buzz), she shouldn't give you too much trouble. Also effective against the Ice Pokémon will be moves that do Fight, Rock, Steel, or Fire based damage. Though Fire will be partially nullified by those Pokémon with a Water duel type.

Elite Four Bruno

Your second opponent of the Elite Four will be Bruno, a massive Fighting type master. He focuses on Fighting based Pokémon that will force any Pokémon with a Normal, Rock, Ice, or Dark typing into submission.

Most of his Pokémon are strictly Fighting type, so focus on using Flying, Psychic or Fairy type moves if you have them. Of course, against the Onix, a water type move will be your best bet for a one hit KO.

Elite Four Agatha

Your third opponent of the Elite Four will be Agatha, a Poison-type master. She of course focuses on Poison based Pokémon that will easily take down any Pokémon with a Grass or Fairy typing.

You can easily knock out the Ghosts along with other Poison types with a Psychic attack. Golbat is also very vulnerable to Electric attacks. Ground type moves are also really effective to all of her Pokémon except Golbat due to its Flying type.

Elite Four Lance

Your fourth opponent of the Elite Four will be Lance, a master of Dragon- Pokémon… Or at least Pokémon that have a Dragon-like appearance. He will throw some pretty strong foes at you so be prepared.

Lance's group is made up of some truly rare Pokémon. Luckily, most of them share the same weaknesses: Electricity. Despite the touting of Dragon type Pokemon, most of Lances partners are flying type, making Electric attacks deadly. The only Pokemon this doesn't fit is Dragonite. Use Blizzard or Ice Beam against him for an easy KO.

Champion

It's not over yet. You knew there was going to be one last showdown with your arch nemesis, Professor Oak!

Just kidding, you Rival is of course the one you’ll be battling, who beat the Elite 4 shortly before you did.

A few tips before we get started:

Your rivals team is extremely well balanced, and as such, you will need to swap out different Pokémon in your party to take out the different type matches he’ll throw at you.

  1. Right off the bat your Rival will Mega Evolve his Pidgeotto, making it even harder to take out. Hit it with Electric, Ice, or Rock type moves. Your Pikachu or Eevee with Buzzy Buzz should make quick work of this.
  2. Vileplume should be countered with Psychic, Flying, Ice, or Fire type moves. If you took in a Charizard, put it to good use here. Though Articuno is also a good choice along with many others.
  3. Want to completely nullify Raichu’s electric attacks? counter him with a Rhydon or some other ground type Pokémon, however be prepared if your Pokémon is a duel type Rock Pokémon that his Iron Tail can hit you really hard.
  4. Rapidash is a fire type, plain and simple. So what douses fire? Drown it in any water type moves you have.
  5. Slowbro is an interesting one. He has many weaknesses from his duel typing including Dark, Electric, Bug, Grass, and Ghost. Take your pick. Having a Pokémon that knows Bite can be good here.
  6. Last but not least is the Cubone he saved earlier in the game is now all grown up into a Marowak with some versatile moves. It’s weak to Water, Ice and Grass, but because of its Fire Punch, you should probably go wit the Water moves here to take it out.
  7. Your Rival will also have several Full Restores he can use any time he chooses, so be prepared for a long drawn out fight.

Good luck trainer and we’ll see you on the other side.

Once you defeat your Rival, you will be crowned Pokémon League Champion. Professor Oak will come in and talk to you about the wonderful bond you share with your Pokémon.

He then will take you to record the Pokémon you used during your run at the Elite 4 in the Pokémon League Hall of Fame.

After recording your team in the Hall of Fame, you’ll get to see the End Credits. But don't switch off that Switch just yet.

Your game will automatically be saved and you can continue to explore the lands and complete your Pokémon collection. ...and you wouldn't want to miss out on a certain genetically-engineered Psychic one, right?
