I transferred into Gettysburg College due to a lack of safety at my previous school. I immediately felt safer on campus and cared for by the faculty. The housing selection can be frustrating but they do offer a large variety of options including themed houses, which is really cool. The food is good and the professors are incredible.

I love Gettysburg College. The professors are excellent and caring to their students. The college's courses are highly diverse and entertaining. Since Gettysburg College is located in a small town, you get to know most students who attend the school. Being a Gettysburgian is a privilege, and I am happy to be part of such a great community.

If you read some of these reviews and take them seriously, you'll see Gettysburg College is very limited and limiting. It does not offer much, so you will not receive much in return when it is time to graduate and enter the "real world". Aside from just a piece of paper, your college should offer opportunities, support, encouragement, resources and so much more to guide you to the next step. Gettysburg hardly provides any of that. I'm the parent of a 2024 graduate and their experience was not the best. They were fortunately involved in Greek Life which was the better part of the their time here as you truly do gain a sister/brotherhood. But the unique thing about 2024 graduates is that they started during the pandemic -- a very adverse time when so much was already taken from them. Many had been robbed of graduations, proms, campus living, in-person classes, etc. Gettysburg then robbed many 2024 graduates of experiences they can never get back. Be cautious enrolling for many reasons.

As a graduating senior, I must reflect on my disappointment with Gettysburg College. As evidenced by its decline in both academic rankings and the quality of academics/student life over the last few years, Gettysburg is struggling. Though I am graduating with a good job offer and near the top of my class in one of the more technical majors, I entirely regret attending the College. While some academic programs are still strong, most gen ed courses require a tedious amount of pointless work, taking time away from higher ROI pursuits. Student life centers entirely on Greek life; there is effectively nothing else to do on weekends due to the town's isolated location. I held multiple positions in Greek life, but felt largely outcasted from the caste-like social hierarchy on campus. Positives: Food is relatively good (though being cut back), many Professors are caring and campus is safe. Ultimately, school lacks resources to help most grads be competitive in the labor force.

I had a unique experience attending Gettysburg during the era of Covid. My first two years were basically all online. The campus itself is very small but the professors care about you and helping you succeed. They will all write you letters of recommendations and make sure you have something lined up after college. However, the town of Gettysburg has limited activities so Greek Life is very popular. I enjoyed my time in my sorority but that may not be the path for everyone. Overall, I would like to see housing options expand and the admin/president listen more to the students on areas of improvement.

The campus food at Gettysburg College is amazing, with a huge variety available but they could be better academically, particularly with regards to experiential learning vs classroom learning.

Gettysburg's ideal student-faculty ratio fosters personalized learning.
At Gettysburg College, my experience with the student-to-faculty ratio has been exceptional. The intimate class sizes allow for meaningful interactions with professors, fostering a supportive academic environment where students can actively engage in discussions, receive personalized attention, and develop strong mentorship relationships. This close-knit community enables students to thrive academically and personally, as faculty members are readily accessible for guidance, advice, and collaborative research opportunities. Moreover, the small class sizes encourage active participation and critical thinking, enhancing the overall learning experience.

Gettysburg is a safe, small, intimate college, located in the beautiful, historic area of Gettysburg. The student body is diverse with students coming from all walks of life. There are a lot of clubs, organizations and sports, including Greek life, but if you’re looking for a party school, this is not it. Downtown Gettysburg is full of restaurants and shops and is a short walk away. Neighboring towns offer a larger selection of chain restaurants, malls and are a 20-30 drive away. All students, including freshman, can have cars on campus. Classes are challenging, but professors and upper level students/tutors are always available for extra help. Professors, coaches, and administrators are very approachable and want to get to know you, so they can help you succeed. Servo (dining hall) offers high-quality food and various selections. Gettysburg has a top notch academic reputation, important if you want to pursue post graduate work. I’m happy with my experience and proud to be here!

My son graduated in 2020 and thrived at the college. He was on a sports team and was a part of a fraternity so his social life was covered. Coming from NYC it was a bit of a culture shock for him in terms of the small town feel however it was fine. His Economics degree got him into the Finance world in NYC and he's doing quite well.

Academics specially for Computer Science is amazing and very rigorous. The professors challenge you to get the best out of you while also supporting you in the journey. The only complain I have about this college is they increases the tuitions and fess very drastically and social life heavily drive by the Greek life culture. So, if you are not into Frats or sororities then It's extremely hard to make the white American friends as an international. Also, The location is very dull there is nothing much to do in the downtown area. It's like an old civil war heritage area.

Not a school for black people/POC. Faculty were very unprofessional and engaged in questionable acts with students. I knew of a student who got arrested and multiple faculty were highly involved, which made the school look bad. Worst part is, the higher ups do not know about these things. It is isolating if you’re black and there is a lot of drama. I didn’t do much with my degree, went back to school and I enjoyed my 2nd college much more. The school lacks a lot of opportunities and if you are in STEM, you will be fighting with a lot of other students for limited opportunities. Some of the STEM faculty were racist. I wish I had good things to say about the school but it has only left me with trauma. I would not recommend

Gettysburg College is a close-knit community in a small, relatively remote town. It is a fun campus and Greek life is definitely an important part of the community. I absolutely loved my experience because this created amazing friendships and close connections to my professors. If you are looking for a small, fun school it fills a unique niche there.

The college is okay but the president is terrible. I am in a small program which makes it better but the gen ed’s aren’t great. It has some great small community aspects but others not so much.

I like the endless opportunities we as current students have access to through the Center for Career Engagement and the Office of Student Activities and Greek Life. Academically, everyone wants to see you succeed, and the Professors specifically are always there to help if you are struggling, but you can't wait until the last minute to ask for help. The social life on campus varies, but it's easy to find your crowd of people as long as you actively get outside your dorm and meet people.

Hello, I am currently a senior at Gettysburg. The school is great (I also don't know what the other person is talking about). I have been able to work on one research project and two internships thanks to Gettysburg. Sure, the administration sucks, but name me one school where the administration is what makes the school great. The food is great, and the dorms could be better, but upperclassmen get access to the newer dorms, so it gets better with time. There are a lot of resources and fun events on the weekends, and every sport you can think of has an intramural league with differing competition levels.

I’ve hated every moment since I got to this school. There are zero social opportunities if you’re not on a sports team or involved in Greek life, and you can’t even become involved in Greek life until you’re a sophmore. I genuinely became clinically depressed after going to this school and seriously considered dropping out. That’s how bad the social climate is here. The professors and great and I love my classes but the people here make this place pure hell. I could leave this school and never think about it again. I am transferring

My daughter is a freshman at Gettysburg and she loves the school. Honestly, I don’t know what some of the reviewers are talking about. The student body at Gettysburg is diverse, friendly, bright, and committed. The teachers are smart, dedicated, and supportive.
The campus is beautiful. My daughter describes the school thus: “I love Gettysburg! My teachers are great, I have made tons of friends, it is beautiful, and cozy!”
